Conducted Research
After dedicating half a week on finding respondents, willing to answer our questions genuinely, we were able to gather interesting findings from other people's personal view regarding the conflict for the rights of the coveted Scarborough Shoal. We have accumulated a total number of 63 respondents, 25 Lasallian students, 25 random people we've met on the streets, and 11 individuals residing on foreign countries involved in the issue, 9 from the United States of America, and 2 from China.
The interviews that we conducted and the questionnaires we handed out are made up of the same set of questions that could let the respondents on better expressing their insights and opinions regarding our chosen topic. Evaluating the answers of the respondents to the 10 questions that we've asked,we can conclude that the stand-off happening between China and Philippines affects the degree of awareness and concern, not just us Filipinos, residing in our home country, but as well as Filipinos abroad, and even people of different nationality.

As the pie chart above propose, almost all of the respondents shows awareness to the issue, but only 50% of the aware respondents seems to be concern about the occurring conflict as it makes them more engages to issues concerning world affairs and relations of the Philippines. The other 50% of the "aware" population shows minimal concern on the issue for different reasons like; it doesn't majorly affect their everyday living as a student, or they believe our country is experience more serious and fatal problems than the Scarborough conflict. On the total of 25 Lasallian respondents, all of them are said to be aware of the issue, but only 19 of them said that they are concern about it. The results are quite opposite to our findings about foreign-based individuals, where not all, and only 6 of the 11 are aware of the issue, yet, everyone agrees that the issue concerns every Filipinos, no matter where on earth they are living.
The results of our interviews and questionnaires also states that 92.18% of the respondents said that Philippines has the rightful claim for the shoal, 7.82% said both China and Philippines hold equal rights, and none said China holds rights for the shoal. This findings support the idea that Filipinos, like the Chinese, are one-sided on their opinions on who should claim the desired Scarborough Shoal.
